In honor of Lydia....

I first learned about Lydia's story last week. Lydia is the same age as my Lily Wen and they are both adopted from China. Lydia has battled leukemia and wanted to meet her idol Hannah Montana. I joined with many other adoptive parents in a letter writing campaign to make her wish come true. Sadly there was simply not enough time. Her mother wrote in her journal today "Lydia earned her angel wings at 4:35 p.m. today in the arms of myself, Mark and my parents. " As I write this I cry for a little girl and her family who I have never met. For a mother who had to type the words that no mother should ever need to type. For the sweet child who may not have been on this earth long but who has touched so many. Please keep this family in your prayers. I think I'll head upstairs to snuggle with my wee ones and to hold them tightly for as long as I can. You can visit the family's journal here Lydia.

I can't even imagine what her family must be going though. I hope that they are able to find peace soon.

God Bless this sweet girl. I have heard her story and it pains my heart to think of her family's loss. They fought so hard to try to find a way to save her.

Hi Margaret,
I wish I'd known about the letter writing campaign. I learned about Lydia when they were looking for siblings. Julia wasn't old enough to be tested, but I did not keep up with the story. There are just no words for this kind of pain.

I couldn't even imagine going through what her family must be suffering right now. Heartbreaking.

I can't begin to imagine how it feels to lose a child, my heart breaks for anyone going through that. I tried to go to their site, but it must be blocked. I'll pray for them...
