I am now in the market for a new vehicle. I know that my BMW was not a family vehicle. It was purchased before we ever decided to adopt our daughter. Now we have added Graeme and still I was not ready to give it up. I loved my car even though it was not meeting our needs. We had planned to keep it until next summer when Wes finishes school. It is almost paid for, almost and we would have enjoyed the no car payment for a few months even though it was inconvenient. Unfortunately, fate had other plans and it crashed and burned last week. No real crashing but some burning.....lots of smoke...not quite dead dead but definitely more to fix it than it is worth. So I am shopping and need to purchase rather quickly. Tell me what you love and what you have not been so happy with. I need a soccer Mom vehicle. I can't imagine myself in a van but Lily is begging for one. I see myself more in an SUV/Crossover.....suggestions would be most appreciated. I had lots of fun in this car and it is hard to change when I just wasn't ready yet. Also, those who know me know that when alone, I like to drive fast. Time to move on so all suggestions are appreciated!

I drive a mini-van and when no one is in it I will drive fast and corners pretty well for a big vehicle.
My sister bought a SUV and is now regretting it, because it does not pack well for road trips for two kids. It is harder to get the kids in and out. So now she wants to trade in her SUV and get a van. She has rented several mini-vans on vacations and likes the Toyota and Honda minivans.
I drive a Ford Freestar and it works well for us.
I love the VW Toureg and obviously can't get one 'cause the full-sized Suburban is almost not enough for us, two BIG highschool boys and two girls who have to have stuff in car! My dream car is that Toureg, though...very cool. Honda has a nice CRV - I would drive that, too. Lexxi had a major crash & we tried to talk her into that. No luck. But, it gets pretty good gass mileage.
Our deepest sentiments to the passing of your car! You LOVED that car!!! :(
We LOVE our Honda. Come give it a test drive! The girls would love to have matching vans.
I drove a Yukon XL for many years and loved it, but it died. I now have a Honda Odyssey and love it and it's gas mileage.
We have a T. Highlander and I used to think it was a huge car. Now, it only fits the four of us (bought before the third row) as the space between the car seats doesn't fit any adult. I love my friend's mini-van. Ellie Grace's must have for the new car is a built in DVD player and I know we need more seating.
we have a suburban that can take either ethenol (much cheaper) or regular gasoline... although with 6 kids (4 over 5 foot tall and the other two in carseats) it's not big enough!
if i were you, i'd buy a vw toureg. i LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my vw jetta and my goal in life is to never have to own any other make!
We have an Accord and a Grand Caravan. The best of both worlds. We have the Van for when we travel or when J has a passel of friends he's joyously making me chauffer around, but then the Accord for around town and saving on gas. But here's the key. I drive the Accord unless my schedule calls for kid hauling. Works out perfect ;o)
Joking aside though, as hard as it was to become a mini-van family, there's something to be said about being able to pack the car, travel, and still be comfortable.
I just got a 2008 Chevrolet Equinox LT and I LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!!
I used to drive a Ford Expedition. I loved that car!!! I loved being high up and I loved being in a big car. But after I adopted Emma I realized it just wasn't working for us. The stroller kept falling out the back and it was hard for the kids to get in the way back seat (and we used that seat!)
So after much deliberation I decided to get a mini van-- after I SWORE I would never get one! I got a Honda Odyssey and I LOVE it!!! I even like it better than my Expedition, which I never thought I would say. I highly recommend it, especially with the DVD player. (I told the salesman that if it didn't have a DVD player to not even bother showing it to me.)
I actually wrote about it on my blog here's the link if you're interested.

I love my Ford Escape - couldn't see driving a mini van :) I got the sport version with the sun roof and there is enough room for the passengers in the back... Gets good gas mileage as well..
