How SMART is she?
Forget are you smarter than a fifth grader. I am wondering if I am smarter than my 5 year old. In the past week, she is so winning the battle of the minds.
- Sunday evening, Lily Wen woke me up at 11:52 p.m. and asked if it was still Mother's Day. I replied that it technically was still Mother's Day at least for a few more minutes. She stated that she thought that since it was Mother's Day that I might need to snuggle so could she sleep with me. How could I say no to that? I didn't. Point to Lily Wen.
- On Monday morning, she very nicely asked if we could listen to radio Disney on the way to school. Sure. I had already made them listen to "Mommy music" all day on Mother's Day. Mommy music is typically classic rock, censored of course but she can't stand it. So when I picked them up Monday evening from daycare, I was playing a 3 Doors Down CD and just didn't think to change it. A little ways down the road, Lily said, "Hey Mom, I have a bit of a headache." so I reached out and turned the radio off. She then stated that she did not think her head would hurt if I played radio Disney. Point to Lily Wen.
- This morning, we were leaving for school but running late. I hit that "go, go, go and Move It!" phase of the morning. I was apparently getting a little louder than usual and she picked up on my frustration. When we got in the car, the first thing she said was, "Mom, it's okay if we listen to your music this morning." Point to Lily Wen.
I love how bright and intuitive she is and how did I get to be so blessed? I am a bit worried about my age and how I will be senile when she is a teenager. Just pray that I can stay one step ahead.
