Once a biker chick, Always a biker chick!

These are the first pictures that I ever saw of Lily Wen. I called her my little biker chick!

Once a biker chick, Always a biker chick

This was taken last Thursday on our way to the Smokey Mountains! I love it!
We made a stop at a scenic overlook and Graeme could have cared less about the view of the mountains. He was all about the Harleys. He was told he could look but not touch.

The owner of the Harley noticed their interest and offered to let them sit on the bike. They were in Heaven!
So when we tried to get a picture of the three of us, it looked like this...

Graeme was too busy watching motorcycles arrive and leave to pay any attention to the camera. He has a new found obsession!
We did manage to get a few pics!

Sunshine Picnic

I have a lot to catch up on because my mini vacation put me behind posting here due to a slow internet connection. Last Thursday, we had a family picnic to end the preschool year at Sunshine! Lily Wen and Graeme had a great time. These are some of my favorite shots of the day.

Graeme, Lily Wen and Lily

They all loved the big blow-up slide!

Time out for a cool treat

For those of you who think that Graeme smiles all the time, here is proof that it just isn't so. I had to catch his pouty face. He was sitting in the "Naughty Spot" for shoving kids to get to the head of the line to get on the blow-ups. Yes behind that angelic face is a real BOY!
Mrs Bryson, the director of Sunshine with my wee ones. I am so blessed to have them in this program. It makes it easier to work when you know your kids are loved and cared for!

A Little Hike with the Wee Ones!

Mom loves visiting for two reasons:
1. To spend time with Lily Wen, Graeme and I
2. To eat blackberry cobbler
No, I do not cook blackberry cobbler so on Sunday after church, we drove to Pineville to the Pine Mountain Sate Park to eat lunch at the lodge. I called ahead and was assured that they would have her cobbler. Time with the wee ones and cobbler, what more could Granny ask for? We had a wonderful day and after a delicious lunch, we decided to take a hike. The ranger told us of a trail appropriate for the kids and off we went.

Kissing my Lily Wen ( I love how intently Graeme is watching and don't worry, he got plenty of his own kisses)

The Wee Ones on a wee hike!

It was a bit cold and we ran into a hiker who discussed recent bear and mountain lion sightings....after that Granny was done!

I hope we have many more hikes in our future.

My Wee Graduate

Lily Wen's K-4 graduation was last week. It is a big deal in our small town. There is a wonderful program that celebrates the history of America and our area of the country. It was beautiful!

Lily Wen is dressed for her part as a Kentucky Lady

Anthony as Christopher Columbus and Lily Wen
(His mother and I are attempting to prearrange their marriage!)

Lily Wen and Maleah

Lily as the Statue of Liberty with my Lily Wen

A sassy Southern lady!

So, so Sassy

Lifelong friends are made in preschool!

Lily Wen and some of her classmates sing "My Ole Kentucky Home"

The finale of the show. I watched as tears streamed down my face as my beautiful Chinese daughter belted out "I'm proud to be an American where at least I know I'm free!" She sang the song with such enthusiasm and our whole group got the significance of this song for my daughter. AMAZING!

So I didn't get any cap and gown pics...we took these today!

How SMART is she?

Forget are you smarter than a fifth grader. I am wondering if I am smarter than my 5 year old. In the past week, she is so winning the battle of the minds.

  • Sunday evening, Lily Wen woke me up at 11:52 p.m. and asked if it was still Mother's Day. I replied that it technically was still Mother's Day at least for a few more minutes. She stated that she thought that since it was Mother's Day that I might need to snuggle so could she sleep with me. How could I say no to that? I didn't. Point to Lily Wen.
  • On Monday morning, she very nicely asked if we could listen to radio Disney on the way to school. Sure. I had already made them listen to "Mommy music" all day on Mother's Day. Mommy music is typically classic rock, censored of course but she can't stand it. So when I picked them up Monday evening from daycare, I was playing a 3 Doors Down CD and just didn't think to change it. A little ways down the road, Lily said, "Hey Mom, I have a bit of a headache." so I reached out and turned the radio off. She then stated that she did not think her head would hurt if I played radio Disney. Point to Lily Wen.
  • This morning, we were leaving for school but running late. I hit that "go, go, go and Move It!" phase of the morning. I was apparently getting a little louder than usual and she picked up on my frustration. When we got in the car, the first thing she said was, "Mom, it's okay if we listen to your music this morning." Point to Lily Wen.

I love how bright and intuitive she is and how did I get to be so blessed? I am a bit worried about my age and how I will be senile when she is a teenager. Just pray that I can stay one step ahead.

Mother's Day

This is the first Mother's Day that I have had without a wee one being sick. I had a great day!

These fine men cooked all of the Mom's breakfast after church. It was delicious!

Lily Wen and Graeme played after church.

My wee ones...I am soooo BLESSED!

So cute!

His serious look.

My beautiful daughter.

We spent the afternoon outside with them playing in the side yard.

I sprayed them with the hose with one hand and took the pics with the other. I am a master at multi-tasking!

I love this t-shirt!

I love that smile!

Lots of laughter and fun....I just couldn't have asked for a better day.

He is so stinkin' cute in this picture!

What a day!
Now, the interesing thing is that I was supposed to spend part of my weekend cleaning house as my Mom flies in on Wednesday! Oops...I spent a little too much time with my wee ones and not enough time on the house. It is a good thing that a mother's love is unconditional. I Love You MOM! We all can't wait to see you!
Happy Mother's Day to my Mom, and my Mommy friends and most especially to my friends waiting to be Moms!

A Fancy Night Out

Lily Wen has been wanting to act out one of her favorite books, Fancy Nancy, by dressing up and going out to dinner. Tonight, we did just that. Well Lily Wen, Graeme and Lily all dressed up and as Heather put it...she and I were just the commoners.

Lily Wen, Graeme and Lily in their fanciest outfits.

Lily and Lily Wen...the bestest of friends

Graeme is so dapper with his faux hawk and he has his pinkie out to drink

Notice their pinkies too!

There they go!
